Aurelia's pink is completely natural. We infuse extra virgin olive oil from organic farming with 5% plant pigments extracted from beetroot: nothing artificial, no colourings, no additives. The result: the world's first pink EVOO, developed with Tecnalia and the Polytechnic University of Madrid. The oil? Exactly what it has always been: liquid gold.
No. It tastes and smells exactly like classic olive oil: fruity green olive, fresh herbs with a subtle spicy kick at the end. The color is purely visual. All organoleptic properties remain completely unaltered. It is the same oil as always.
No. It has only two ingredients: 95% extra virgin olive oil from organic farming and 5% natural beetroot concentrate. Nothing artificial, no colourings or food additives. It took almost a year of R&D to achieve the pink colour naturally, because we refused to do it any other way. What you see is exactly what it is: Pink Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
To comply with EU Food Labelling Regulation No. 1169/2011, which requires the product name to reflect its composition. Aurelia is extra virgin olive oil from organic farming, and we change its colour with beetroot plant pigments; that is why we state it on the label. It is the name the law requires. It is still pink. It is still the world's first pink olive oil.
L'AUREA holds official EU organic certification as an operator. We are inspected every year by an independent body, CAEM (the Organic Farming Committee of the Madrid Region). Our EU operator number is ES-ECO-023-MA.724-0072046.2026.001. On the back label and in the nutritional information you will also see the code ES-ECO-001-AN: it identifies the Andalusian control body that certifies the oil at origin, and it is there for traceability. These are not contradictory details: they are two levels of the same certification chain. You can download our certificates, technical data sheets and traceability documents in the "Trace Me" section.
Julia is: it is certified organic extra virgin olive oil and carries the EU organic logo on the bottle, which you can verify in our Traceability section. Aurelia is made with that same oil, which comes from organic farming, but it cannot be called organic: EU rules require every ingredient of a product to be certified organic in order to display the logo, and our beetroot pigments are 100% natural and plant-based, but not organic. That is why Aurelia's back label reads "from organic farming". Both oils come from the same family estate in the Sierra de Larva (Andalusia).
Our olive oil comes from a family estate in the Sierra de Larva, in Andalusia. We only bottle the Picual variety, harvested early, at the end of October, when the olives are at their best, and cold-extracted below 27 °C. A single origin. Full traceability in every bottle.
Away from direct sunlight and heat. At room temperature once opened, use within 2-3 months with cap sealed. One thing worth knowing about Aurelia: natural pigments can settle over time. Shake for 5-10 seconds to restore pink intensity. We recommend storing it horizontally in its case.
Two oils, same origin, different personalities. Julia is our classic EVOO. Aurelia is our pink oil. Julia: your everyday oil. Toast in the morning, dressings, pasta, vegetables, eggs. The one you choose without thinking and savor every time you use it. Aurelia: for any occasion where you want color to be the star. In salads, toast, soft cheeses, appetizers, creative presentations, and even desserts. Provides a pink tone without staining. Ideal for cold dishes or creative plating.
